Soap Drawings
The Soap Dishes series emerged in 2020 when Kellett became fascinated by the ritual of handwashing and the symbolism of the bar of soap on a soap dish. The act of daily washing and the way the soap gradually diminishes over time, became a powerful metaphor for life itself. The bar of soap transitions from a sharp, rectangular form to a worn, cracked, and translucent piece—representing the process of aging and the impermanence of existence.
In this series, Kellett explores the universal idea of transformation through the aging process, drawing on his deep-rooted interest in Eastern philosophies, particularly Zen Buddhism and Taoism, where beginnings and endings are seen as part of a cyclical, unified whole.
