HackelBury hosted an Artist Reception on Thursday, 18 September 2025, from 6–8 pm, with artists Nadezda Nikolova and Katja Liebmann in light of their duo exhibiton Landscape & Alchemy. 

 

Nadezda Nikolova (b. 1978, former Yugoslavia) studied historic processes at the George Eastman Museum and at the University of Kentucky. Her work is held in major collections including the J. Paul Getty Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum, and SAMoCA Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art, and has been exhibited and collected internationally. In 2023, Nazraeli Press published her monograph Elemental Forms. She has lectured at institutions such as SUNY Plattsburgh, Penumbra Foundation, and Santa Fe Workshops, and was a finalist for the 2018 LensCulture Exposure Awards. in 2025, Nikolova was featured in The Georgia Review with an in-depth essay titled 'Devotions in Light'.

 

Katja Liebmann (b.1965, Germany) grew up in Berlin and is based in Oldenburg/Germany. She is a graduate of the Royal College of Art, London, the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee and the Academy of Fine Arts, Nuremberg. In 2001 she received a Scholarship from the Hasselblad Foundation in Gothenberg, Sweden. She was shortlisted for the 1998 Citibank Photography Prize (now the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize) and was awarded the prestigious DAAD scholarship in 1995. Recent exhibitions include: Blues at the Oldenburg State Museum, Germany, 2024. Her work was featured at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2025.
