Coral Woodbury recently spoke at Considering Art podcast.
Janson’s History of Art has been a key reference work for students of art history in America and beyond since it was first published in 1962. When Coral Woodbury discovered the complete absence of women in its pages right up to its 1986 edition, she decided to embark on a long-term project to right this wrong.
In the podcast, Coral gives examples of some of these women, how she paints portraits of them on pages torn from Janson’s book and how she researches subjects on residencies abroad.
