Poised (2019) by Sharon Walters has been acquired by The House of KOKO.
The House of KOKO art collection "is a celebration of encompassing visual art, music, club and street culture. The collection consists of works by emerging, mid-career and established contemporary artists such as; James Barnor, Sahara Longe, France-Lise McGurn, Hannah Quinlan, Rosie Hastings, David Shrigley and Wilhelm Sasnal, spanning mediums including painting, photography, sculpture and more.”
Poised is from Sharon's multidisciplinary series Seeing Ourselves which explores identity, beauty standards, and race through intricate paper cut-outs, hand-assembled collages, podcasts, talks, and events. In her layered collages, Walters creates dimensional and complex depictions of Black women.
